Field Notes — ARC Library

Field Notes is the ARC Library journal: a public place for thoughtful reading workflows, product stories, and clear help.

The Guides shelf covers getting started, Reader tools, Author campaigns, PA workspaces, settings, plans, and support. Articles are reviewed against the current ARC Library experience before publication.

What’s New

  • Track Your Applications & the Author Portal — New author names now correct obvious lowercase words before they join the catalogue. Approval Desk also repairs older pending names and adopts trusted book-database casing without treating the author as a different person.
  • A Fresh New Look — The Library's filter row now shows All Books plus just the filters you've starred; tap "More" to see everything else with live counts and a ★ next to each one.
  • Reliability Sweep — Your library scrolls smoother and uses less data: covers now load only as they come into view, and the built-in placeholder covers are much lighter. Same cozy shelves, quicker to appear.
  • Personal Books Fix — Fixed personal (non-ARC) books briefly showing a “Requested formats” row instead of their versions. Your own books are back to normal: the version switcher is always available, and requested formats only appear on ARCs you've applied for.
  • Fortune Teller Theme — Its night sky comes alive, gold stars twinkle and drift, link themselves into constellations, and reach glowing lines toward your cursor as you move across them, with the occasional shooting star.
  • Reliability & Display Fixes — Fixed the “has an accountability form” and “filled out the form” switches on a book's Reviews section not responding on phone, they'd tap but never actually slide on or off. They now toggle reliably (and the author-tagging switch too).
  • Dashboard Personalization & Fixes — The card transparency setting now affects every card on your phone dashboard. Currently Reading, Quick Actions, Calendar and Due Soon used to stay solid while the rest turned see-through, now they all match your chosen transparency.
  • Polish & Fixes — Tapping a book in the dashboard Due Soon card now opens its quick-action popup as a proper centered dialog instead of overlapping the card behind it.
