Version 4.0.0 brings 81 customer-facing changes to ARC Library. Role or platform labels appear only where a change is specific to that experience.
New
Archie’s bigger role
ARChie now writes your notifications as letters in ARChie’s Post, remembers what matters to you, and nudges you in the voice you choose: Gentle, Sassy or Roast. He also reminds you when a deadline is getting close.
Archie’s Séance
Your reading now earns tarot-style cards. Draw a card each day, sit down at the weekly Three-Card Table, collect the deck, and spend your Moonstones at Archie’s Night Stall.
Import from NetGalley
Copy your NetGalley shelf or take screenshots, and we match every book and keep your archive dates. You check the list before anything is saved. This is a Premium feature and still experimental, so please report any wrong match.
Series tracking
The Reading Desk now shows every series you have started: the next book on your shelf, the next one to get, and any gaps. A Finished tab celebrates the series you completed, and it all updates as your Library changes.
A smoother app all round
A new dashboard leads with Now reading and Today’s plan. Settings sit in six groups with search, you edit your profile right where you see it, Import & export starts with your sources, and ARC applications have a clearer design.
Now reading leads your dashboard
Your current book now sits at the top of the dashboard with a progress editor where ARChie rides along. Drag the slider or tap a quick step, and each change saves on its own with an Undo.
Today’s plan keeps your day on one card
ARChie suggests what to read, review or promote today, and you can tick each item off. Add up to five tasks of your own, keep them until they are done, or move them to tomorrow.
Pace Reality Check
A new dashboard card compares your usual reading pace with the pace your deadlines need. It shows which deadlines you will meet at your current pace and how much faster you would need to read to meet them all.
Author pages with shelves, and a Follow button
Author pages now show their books as series shelves, with Books, Open Spots and About tabs. Follow an author to hear when they add a book or open an ARC request form, and manage the list in Settings under Notifications.
Add tasks straight onto a calendar day
Tap an empty day on any calendar to add a review due date, a promo due date, a reading plan or a PR task. Pick a book from your Library, or add a new one with the date already filled in.
Choose your Amazon store
Pick your preferred Amazon storefront in Settings, and book shopping and search links open that country’s store.
Buy a book without hunting for the link
Every book now shows a Purchase here row with Kobo, Amazon, and Bookshop.org. Goodreads sits under Find out more, since you cannot buy there. Saved shop links are used first, then the ISBN, then a search.
Decide which fields ARC Library fills in
Book defaults has a new Pre-fill optional fields switch. Turn it off and a new request leaves ARC Source and Date Requested blank for you to fill in. Required fields such as status and version keep their starting value.
Write your own Reviewer CV headline (Premium)
Reader
Reader Premium members can replace the default two-line headline on their Reviewer CV with their own words. Leave it blank to keep the original.
Batch Studio makes large Library repairs safer
Select books while keeping your shelf open, then build and review exact changes. Batch Studio names each book that saved, is waiting to sync, or needs attention.
Improved
A clearer book page
Every book opens with its cover, versions and status at hand, and the shop buttons always in view. On computers they sit in a side spine; on phones the book stays on top with its tabs below. Dates you have not set yet show as quick add buttons.
Book page tabs that tell the story
Overview shows countdowns to your deadlines, your reading pace and where the review and promo stand. Reading journey, Reviews & PRs, Quotes & notes and From the author have new layouts, and Book information is grouped into colour-coded cards.
Add book in three clear steps
Find your edition, set up your copy, then check and add, with a live preview of the book beside you. Every date can be edited, and each detail is asked only once.
Update progress in a popup
Update progress on Now reading opens a popup instead of stretching the card, so your dashboard stays put.
One Customize button
Your dashboard has a single Customize button for its look and for rearranging cards, with a link to all dashboard settings.
Getting started lives on your dashboard
New accounts get a short Getting started card with a few tasks ARChie ticks off as you go, instead of tours and pop-ups.
A TBR you can plan
Reader
Read this next suggests your most urgent book first. Drag books between months on the planner board, and spin the new parchment wheel when you cannot decide. Your shelf and pile views are still there.
Reading Bingo is easier to read
Reader
Each square shows its full short name and how it completes: on its own, with a book, or by you. Row and column counters show how close each line is, and a finished line gets a small celebration.
My Teams in one list
Reader
Author rooms sit at the top, then your teams by status. Pick a team to open its desk beside the list on computers, or full screen on phones.
Share cards look like one set
Reader
TBR, Séance and Wrap-Up images now share the same paper look, and the Séance has its own share card with three cards fanned on velvet.
Tidier book fields on your phone
On phones, pick lists such as publisher, series, provider and country now open a sheet with search and your most used choices first. In Add book every field shares one look, and you can change the format right on Your edition.
ARChie’s Post gathers your notifications
Notifications now arrive as short letters from ARChie in one calm feed, grouped into Today, This week and Earlier. Each letter has one clear action, and similar letters from the same day fold into a single stack.
Notifications and messages are clearly separated
ARChie now labels reminders, replies, praise, account news, and app updates as notifications. Messages remain reserved for real correspondence, while ARChie’s personal reading prompts are notes.
Reminders name what they are about
Deadline notifications now name the book or task in their title, so you can tell them apart at a glance.
ARChie’s voices have more to say
Gentle, Sassy and Roast each have a full set of lines for reminders and praise. Reminders now match where each book stands, and praise uses the nickname you chose.
ARChie points out what is new
ARChie may invite you, once, to import your NetGalley shelf, finish or share your reader profile, or visit the Séance. Close an invitation and he will not keep repeating it.
ARChie is ready when you are
Ask ARChie on your dashboard to pick your next read, give you a tiny challenge, or cheer you on. The same conversation continues across your devices.
ARChie’s notes can match your theme
ARChie’s notes can now sit on paper that matches your theme instead of plain parchment. Your choice is saved to your account.
The Daily Draw comes to your dashboard
ARChie can deal your daily card from his card on the dashboard, and newly earned cards are announced wherever you are. A challenge you take stays open until you finish it.
Focused brings your day onto ARChie’s desk
On larger screens, Focused now opens with ARChie, Today’s plan and Now reading together in one top row, followed by your week and your reading pace.
Currently Reading opens as a Desk Folio
Web
On the web Dashboard, each current read now sits in a layered, theme-matched Library folio. Drag the progress line for a quick update, or choose Update precisely for pages or percentage.
Dashboard cards look like one set
Every dashboard card now shares the same frame, header icons and settings gear, so the page reads as one calm desk.
A clearer Reading Pace card on phones
The phone Reading Pace card now leads with a big pace number beside its label, followed by cover-led rows for each book.
Edit your links from the dashboard
Add, edit and reorder your profile links right on the dashboard links card. Your reader profile can now hold more links, in the order you choose.
Reading intentions get illustrated cards
Your reading intention and yearly goal cards now carry theme-matched artwork and read like pages from a milestone journal.
A tidier Gentle goals card
The Gentle goals card drops the overdue and request count badges and keeps your rest day message and buttons together in one panel, so it takes less space.
A roomier yearly goal card
The yearly goal card shows a bigger ring and count, and keeps your monthly TBR and Open my year on one row. On wide dashboards they sit beside your progress instead of below it.
Due soon covers the next 14 days
Due this week and Due soon are now one Reading Desk queue covering the next two weeks, matching the Due soon count in the header. On phones, the Due soon card can hide the pages-per-day figure.
Overdue counts every late commitment
Overdue now includes late promotions and returns as well as late reviews. The header count, the Library filter and the Reading Desk queue all agree.
Compact Reading Desk queues on phones
Reading Desk queues on phones now show compact rows grouped into Overdue, This week and next, and Later, with the status and quick action on each row. Prefer the roomier cards? Choose Comfortable in Settings under Library layout.
Remove books sits behind More on the TBR Pile
The TBR Pile card keeps Remove books in its More menu, so it is harder to tap by accident.
Settings in six groups, with search
Settings now open with your profile and plan at the top, then six groups: Account, Look & feel, Reading & library, Reviews, Notifications, and Data & help. Search settings finds any option, and Workspaces has its own page.
Edit your profile where you see it
Your profile page is now where you edit it. Choose Edit on any card, change it in place, and see the result straight away, while old Profile Studio links open the same page.
Import & export starts with your sources
Import & export now opens with NetGalley, Goodreads, StoryGraph and spreadsheets, each with its own export help. Backups stay free, and the tools that fill in missing covers and details sit together below.
Check each NetGalley match before you add it
Tap a book in the NetGalley import to see its shelf dates, the match we found and what will be saved. Report a wrong match in a few taps, and follow the new guide to copying your shelf on a computer or phone.
A clearer ARC application
On larger screens, the book and what the author asks for sit beside your answers, and on phones the application opens full screen. Send points you to anything missing, and an Application sent screen confirms it went through.
Books you add to the catalogue go live sooner
When a book you submit matches a major book catalogue exactly, it is now published straight away with its details and cover instead of waiting for review.
A steadier header on larger screens
On tablets and computers with a sidebar, the header and sidebar now form one still frame. Nothing jumps as you scroll, and the header simply slims down.
Teams is now one desk
Author and PA
Your teams sit beside one team desk, with overdue tasks, join requests and unread messages gathered at the top. Approve readers, tick tasks and edit the team in place, or switch to a table view.
Author HQ shows every launch
Author and PA
Each upcoming book shows its launch in five steps, from book ready to publication, with the next step for that book. Waiting on you gathers readers to approve and tasks due, and you can act right there with Undo.
My Forms is a campaign desk
Author and PA
Pick a campaign to see its readers, share link and settings in one place, with a status that knows when it closes. Switch to a table to sort campaigns and close or archive several at once.
My Books is a book desk
Author and PA
Edit any book detail in place, see what readers still need before your listing is complete, and switch to a table for bulk changes. Rejected books show the reason, so you can fix them and send them again.
Colours that mean something
Author and PA
Author desks use the same colours as the book page for the same things, such as amber for what needs you and teal for books. The colours are fitted to each theme.
PA Home is one desk for all your authors
PA
See what is waiting across every author you help, answer invitations right there, and open each author’s desk with their launches, campaigns and books. Connect an author opens in place.
Fixed
Your phone catches up after a break
Coming back to the app after it sat in the background now brings in everything you changed on other devices, like reading progress and corrected dates. You no longer need to close and reopen the app.
Header shortcuts open the right queue
The To Review, To Promote, Requested, Due soon and Overdue rows in the header now open their matching Reading Desk queue instead of the last one you used.
Book titles are shown in full
Library rows, Reading Desk cards, the Review Desk, catalogue cards and the Weekly Planner now wrap long titles instead of cutting them off. Each author is listed once.
Form fields are readable on every theme
Field labels and outlines now keep enough contrast on every theme, and Witchy Moon’s status and accent colours are easier to read.
Reading goals follow your text size
The small labels on your reading intention and yearly goal cards, and the Fortune Parlour room tabs, now grow with your text size setting. Everything stays readable at larger sizes.
Deleted books stay deleted
A book you delete no longer reappears from your device’s saved copy after a reload.
Saves go through on patchy connections
Queued book changes now try to save even when your device wrongly reports that it is offline. Saving also recovers if the browser’s save lock fails to start.
Covers fill their frames
Covers with transparent edges now fill their frame, and a cover you upload shows in the Add Book preview straight away.
Multi-select menus stay tidy
Search in multi-select menus stays attached to its options, and the items you choose sit in compact chips.
No reminders for books you let go
Review and promotion reminders now stop for ARCs you withdrew from or did not finish.
The app icon badge clears when you are caught up
iOS
The number on the app icon now clears once every notification is read.
Pick my next read shows genre names
ARChie’s Pick my next read now shows genre names instead of codes.
ARChie keeps book titles intact
ARChie now preserves the original capitalization of book titles and other proper names when turning notifications into personal notes.
ARChie follows your reading settings
ARChie’s Dashboard label now follows your chosen text size. His Field Notes guide also opens the correct related TBR guide.
ARChie listens before changing the plan
I can explain now asks what got in the way and offers clear next steps. Sharing a reason never changes your promise unless you choose a plan action.
The Custom Dashboard tour finds Rearrange again
The Custom Dashboard tour can point to its Rearrange control again.
Catalogue and application saves are steadier
Catalogue searches keep useful matches when a pending record is unavailable. Newly requested books and review drafts now settle cleanly while their saved details catch up.
Linked PR tasks have room to breathe
Opening a PR task from Book Details now gives the task enough width on computers. Fields stay readable without a horizontal scrollbar.
Existing plans stay untouched
iOS, Android
Opening ARC Library now ignores billing records that are not mobile purchases instead of treating them as a sync error. Your existing plan and access stay unchanged.
Team promo tasks open on computers
Starting a promo task from a Team Desk now opens the task wizard on desktop and tablet instead of returning you to the team page. Custom Team Tasks and every suggested task type open the same way on all your devices.
New team readers get the team’s books
Author and PA
Readers who join by invite link, or whom you add or add back from Find a reader, now get the books your team is reading straight away. Each reader is offered a book only once.
Imported to-read books join your Wishlist
Books on your Goodreads or StoryGraph to-read shelf now import to your Wishlist with To Read status and no acquired date, instead of Requested. Copies your export marks as owned stay off the Wishlist, and the import preview shows where they will go.
