Drag-and-Drop TBR Ordering, Audiobook Covers & More — ARC Library Field Notes

What’s New 2.23.0

Click "Edit layout" on the desktop dashboard to enter edit mode — five reorderable cards (Reading Pace, Currently Reading, Book of the Day, Quick Actions, Monthly TBR; Due Soon also available as a swap) get a dashed outline and drag handle so you can drop them into any of the five slots: top-row left/middle/right and side-rail top/bottom. The Calendar stays fixed in the centre. Click "Done" when finished — your layout saves automatically.

Version 2.23.0 brings 23 customer-facing changes to ARC Library. Role or platform labels appear only where a change is specific to that experience.

New

Drag-and-Drop Dashboard Layout (Web)

Web

Click "Edit layout" on the desktop dashboard to enter edit mode — five reorderable cards (Reading Pace, Currently Reading, Book of the Day, Quick Actions, Monthly TBR; Due Soon also available as a swap) get a dashed outline and drag handle so you can drop them into any of the five slots: top-row left/middle/right and side-rail top/bottom. The Calendar stays fixed in the centre. Click "Done" when finished — your layout saves automatically.

Reorder Your Monthly TBR by Dragging

You can now arrange the books on your TBR in the exact order you want to read them. Drag any cover (or row, in list view) on the dashboard TBR card, the mobile dashboard TBR card, and the dedicated TBR page — your order is saved per book and stays in place across devices. A normal tap still opens the book details; only an actual drag triggers the reorder.

Set a Different Cover for Audiobook Editions

Audiobooks often ship with different artwork than the print edition. You can now save an "Audiobook Cover Override" URL on any audiobook ARC — set it from the Add ARC wizard's advanced section or directly on the ARC details modal. The override shows up on the library card, the modal hero, and everywhere the ARC is rendered. The hero header also now uses a square slot for audiobook covers (with a blurred-cover backdrop instead of a flat white rectangle), so square audio art no longer looks stretched or cropped.

Group Library by Format

A new "Format" grouping option in the library lets you stack books by physical / ebook / audiobook so you can see your collection by edition at a glance.

Mark Whether the Author Can Be Tagged on Your Review

Each book now carries its own "tag the author" consent. A new "Allow tagging the author when sharing this review or post" checkbox sits in the Reviews tab on the ARC details modal, and the same option appears in the Add ARC wizard's review section while you're creating the book — so you can lock in the choice as you set the book up. The flag travels with the book and applies whenever you share or post the review.

Copy Reviews for Goodreads

A new "Copy for Goodreads" option in the review copy menu produces a paste-ready, formatted version optimized for Goodreads. The copy menu also got positioning and styling fixes — it no longer overflows on narrow widths, and the copied review no longer prefixes the book title.

Configure Your Default Add-ARC Field Values

A new Book Defaults section in Settings lets you preset the default reading status, application status, format, and more for the Add ARC wizard, so adding a batch of books in your usual flow takes fewer taps. The same defaults are also exposed in the library page Settings modal.

More Custom Filter Power

Custom filters now expose Ownership Status and Format as filter chips in the filter dropdown, and the custom filter builder supports nested AND/OR groups so you can express more complex saved filters (e.g. "(ARC AND Audiobook) OR (Owned AND Reading)").

Improved

Dashboard Layout Switcher Moved to Settings

Web

The classic ↔ new dashboard toggle is no longer a stray icon in the dashboard header. It now lives in Settings → Library & Layout as two clearly labelled options, alongside your sidebar position preference.

Tidier Dashboard Cards in Every Slot

Web

The top row now stays a clean fixed height regardless of which card you put there — TBR, in particular, automatically switches to a one-row "5 covers + arrows" form on the dashboard so it doesn't blow up the row. Cards moved into the side rail (Currently Reading, Reading Pace, Book of the Day) now scale their covers to fill the available space, so the column doesn't leave big empty gaps inside cards.

Smoother Drag-and-Drop on the "Reorder Dashboard" Modal

The mobile dashboard's Reorder Dashboard sheet now uses the same direct drag-and-drop as the new TBR ordering — no more up/down arrows, just grab a row and drop it where you want it.

Finished Books Sink to the Bottom of Your TBR

Books you've marked Finished or DNF now automatically move to the end of the TBR list, so the books still on your reading queue stay at the top where you can see them. Your overall completion count and progress percentage already updated to count both Finished and DNF as done with the book.

Bigger Covers and Cleaner Status Labels on the TBR Card

The Monthly TBR card now uses a paginated 4-column grid on phones (two rows per page, prev/next pagination if you have more than 8 books) so covers stay readable. Reading-status icons were replaced with clear text badges — TO READ, READING, FINISHED, DNF, PAUSED — at the bottom of each cover. The card title now also shows your completion percentage alongside the X/Y count.

Remove Books From a Month's TBR in One Place

A new "Remove" button next to "Add to TBR" on the TBR page opens a list of every book on the current month's TBR with a one-tap remove on each row — no more hunting for individual books to delete one at a time.

Fixed

Mobile Reorder Drag Now Works Reliably on Touch

Dragging rows in the mobile "Reorder Dashboard" sheet sometimes failed because the modal's scroll claimed the gesture before the drag could activate. Now a small finger movement on a row instantly starts the drag — no more 150ms hold required.

TBR Reading vs Finished Badges Are Now Different Colours

On themes where the success colour is the same as the reading-status accent (Cozy Cottage and a few others), Currently Reading and Finished badges on TBR covers ended up identical. Both surfaces (desktop TBR card and mobile TBR card) now use the theme's dedicated reading-status palette so each state has its own distinct colour.

Mobile "What's New" Pill No Longer Overlaps the Reorder Icon

The pill was absolutely positioned at the top of the mobile dashboard and sat on top of the grid-reorder button. Both now share a single row of header controls.

Public Review Paragraphs Render with Spacing Again

Fixed a regression where paragraphs in the public review view were collapsing into a single block of text. Public reviews now render with the same paragraph spacing the editor preview shows.

Pre-Order Books No Longer Skew Your Reading Pace and Deadlines

Pre-orders represent books you don't physically have yet, so the dashboard now excludes them from Due Soon, reading pace targets, and deadline calculations until the book is actually received and tracked.

Calendar Cells No Longer Overflow Into Neighbours

On smaller widths, long event titles could push calendar day cells past their column and overlap the next day. Cells now clip cleanly so the calendar layout stays intact at every viewport.

Request Form Prefill From an ARC

Creating a Request Form from an ARC on the library now correctly pre-fills the form with that ARC's details, and the close-confirm dialog renders centered on top of the wizard instead of misaligning behind it.

Trial Subscriptions Stay Active Through the Trial End Date

Fixed an issue where some trial users were being marked inactive before their trial actually ended. Trials now remain active until the recorded trial end date.

Quality-of-Life Bug Fixes

"What's New" no longer triggers a refresh loop on open. Reading Pace now uses up-to-date return dates instead of stale values. Hidden borrow fields on the wizard no longer show stale data. The Overview "Promo Due" indicator now binds to the correct field again. Sign-in no longer races on app open after a fresh install.
