Version 2.22.0 brings 19 customer-facing changes to ARC Library. Role or platform labels appear only where a change is specific to that experience.
New
Reader Cards Now Match Each Reader Theme
Reader Finder cards now use each reader’s own selected theme colors, making the browsing grid feel more personal and visually distinct at a glance.
Smarter Grid Density Presets
Library Layout settings now use clear density presets with visual previews, plus exact column pickers inside each preset range (for example, choose 2 or 3 in Spacious).
Improved
Cleaner Reader Cards for Incomplete Profiles
Reader Finder cards now handle missing profile info gracefully with a clear “profile in progress” state, so cards with limited data no longer feel blank or broken.
Reader Profile Modal Now Uses Reader Theme
When you open a reader from Reader Finder, the profile modal now follows that reader’s selected theme for chips, stats, accents, and action styling.
Track Progress Card Is Easier to Read
The Overview tab progress card now has better spacing between input fields and the progress bar, so values feel less cramped and are easier to scan at a glance.
Progress Mode Switcher Now Uses Clear Icons
Track Progress now uses a cleaner mode picker next to the three-dot menu: tap the current icon dropdown to switch between page tracking (page icon), listening minutes (headphones), and percentage (%). The card header icon was also refreshed to a bookmark for a cleaner book-tracking feel.
Sort and Group Now Live Next to Filters
Sorting and grouping controls were moved out of the Filters dropdown and placed directly in the library toolbar, so organizing your shelf takes one click instead of opening multiple sections.
No More Duplicate Grid Column Controls
Grid columns were removed from duplicate spots in library filtering and shelf settings. The quick grid button remains in the toolbar, and full grid control stays in Settings > Library & Layout.
Active Filters Are Easier to Read
The library now shows active filter chips inline and groups overflow into a +X more chip that reopens the filter panel, keeping your current constraints visible without clutter.
Review Header Actions Are Cleaner
Review editor header actions are now grouped more logically, including a single Save dropdown that combines save and visibility controls in one place. Share/copy/public-view actions are grouped separately, and icon-only buttons reduce visual clutter while still showing labels on hover. The public preview action now uses a clearer link-style icon so it reads as opening the published page, and desktop action icons were enlarged for better visibility.
Fixed
Fixed Trope Readability in Dark Reader Themes
Adjusted trope chip contrast in Reader Profile modals so themes like Velvet & Venom keep trope labels readable instead of blending into the background.
Fixed Broken Initials on Avatar Fallbacks
Reader cards and profile modals now generate fallback initials with emoji-safe text handling, preventing odd replacement symbols when names include emoji or special characters.
Better Text Contrast on Reader Cards
Improved contrast for profile fallback initials, genre/trope chips, and preference badges so reader cards stay readable across all themes.
ARC Header Format Icons Now Follow Application Status
In ARC Detail header badges, format icons now respect application status: when status is Received or Approved, the header shows received/provided format icons; for all other statuses, it shows requested format icons.
Review Ratings Stay in Sync
Fixed an issue where star and spice ratings could diverge between Book Detail and the written review editor. Ratings now prefill when you create a review from a book and stay synced after review saves.
Personal Book Status Dropdowns Now Show Full Options
Fixed an ARC Detail header issue where Review Status and Promotion Status dropdowns for Personal books could appear empty. Status menus now load all available options reliably and size themselves to the option text instead of using a fixed width.
Add Book Wizard Fits iPad Screens Again
Fixed an iPad Safari layout bug where adding a book from the Book Database could open the desktop wizard and cause cramped, overlapping text. iPads now use the touch-friendly wizard layout correctly.
Star Ratings from All Readers Now Visible
Fixed a bug where ratings given directly in the ARC tracker were not counted on public book pages — only readers who wrote a formal review were included. Now everyone's star and spice ratings contribute to the community average.
Community Reviews Always Load
Fixed an issue where public reviews could fail to load on book pages when rating data was momentarily out of sync.
