This contemporary romance was as cute and adorable as it sounded on the application form! The growth of the FMC, Demi, was amazing to read. Stepping out after an emotionally distant and controlling marriage, trying to find a way to look after her girls, find a roof to put over their heads and learn to live within her now lower income needs. Her character grew beautifully as she agreed to help the MMC, Ben, raise the funds he needed for his dream while he helps find her a new home.
While they go “head to head” in their fight for control, their romance blossoms into something so beautiful I just couldn’t put the book down. This is a story that can be so relatable for people who have experienced some kind of family trauma, or loss of control to someone they trusted who used it against them. It reminds us that a new beginning is out there for everyone, you just got to be willing to let of the past to find it.
