Book: Heaven's Tempest by K.J. West

This book was absolutely wonderful! It was unlike any other fantasy I've read before, and the creature POV was particularly interesting to experience. I have always really enjoyed POVs from a character you aren't expecting.
Willow was so badass and I loved how strong she was throughout the whole book. The trauma and grief she experiences is very palpable; the heartbreak is felt every single time. I almost cried during the rescue mission (IYKYK). The ending blew me away and I'm eager to read more of her story in the upcoming books!
Carrick was such an underdog at the start that I hadn't expected to be rooting for him as the story progressed. His character development and growth really flourished; which made the processing of his grief so incredibly heartbreaking as he struggled to reconcile his past deeds. He came into his own and I was happy when he finally got his head out of his ass and talked to Willow about his feelings 😂
Octan was awesome and his character development throughout the story was also very well done. I can't say too much, or else I'll spoil things, but he was what Willow needed until Carrick came to his senses.
The world-building was honestly amazing. I loved the definitions at the end of the book, because that really helped on some terms I forgot 😅 But also, the world of Kahzia was so beautifully crafted that you can see the love that went into it as you read. It's a very big world and I can't wait to read more about it!
