What a fun, gory, nostalgic read. This was my first read from Adam & my first b-movie type horror read, which is such a vibe if you like a nod to the 80s, arcade games & some crazy monsters. It took a good few chapters to really get into the swing of things but from about half way through it really picked up & I couldn’t put it down. The title says it all really, the death count is pretty substantial & the ways in which they happen are really creative. I also enjoyed the bit about the song ā€˜Come on Eileen’ & the bit about the timing of Mortal Kombat’s ā€œfinish himā€. So there’s humour in there too. My only critique is I wanted a bit more from the ending, I feel like there could have been even one more page kind of tying it up a bit better, it was almost a rushed last paragraph, but a conclusion nonetheless. Overall I enjoyed it, I’d love to see it as a movie, there is a short live action trailer for when the first version of this book was released in 2016 & it would be so good to watch as a short movie. I definitely look forward to reading some more of Adam’s work. Thank you for this ARC copy. I can’t find the book on Goodreads just now & Amazon won’t let me review it yet so I will share my review on both when it is an available option.
