A huge thank you to Atria Books for the advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own and freely given. What an absolute delight this book was to read! A regency romance crossed over with a scifi bounty hunter adventure story, this sounds like it should not work on paper. What could those two things possibly have space to share? It turns out, everything. Sloane Brooks knew what she was doing. This is the story of a story, and what happens when you have the power to choose your own.
Della, forced to be a maid in a lady’s home, is absolutely miserable. She longs for something, anything more than what she is. Treated as invisible, she starts to feel like she doesn’t belong anywhere. It isn’t until a chance encounter with a carriage, a mud puddle and a mysterious book does she discover that there might be something more for her in the world.
Ansel is the very definition of live by the seat of your pants. He’s an intergalactic bounty hunter with a bounty on his own head, and a drive for retribution. It isn’t until his last mission he finds his own mysterious book that he realizes there’s more to the story than he realizes.
Told through the pages of their individual books, the world plays out with exciting banter, close calls, lots of adrenaline and a yearning that is off the charts and delicious with its tension. You can’t help but fall in love with both characters, and when you see the pieces come together… you’ll finish this book with your jaw on the floor like I did.
Written in Starlight is available October 13 and I beg you, implore you even to get a copy for yourself. This is truly a wonderful story you can’t help but get lost in.
Six pens for this one.
