When social media influencer Poppy goes through a very public break up, in her fathers top restaurant no less on the same night Chef Jack blows his big shot at running his own kitchen the two end up chatting at a bar trying to see where it all went wrong. Then they hatch a plan, they’ll go into business together. She’ll prove to her family that she’s more than her online persona and he’ll show that he deserves a shot to be head chef. What could go wrong; it’s not like they’re going to catch feelings…
I very much enjoyed this book, it was a perfect summer read. There were moments that made me laugh and other that had me talking back to the book. I felt the dual narration was well done and believable. And I must say, more books need to have chapter titles - bring them back!
My only criticism is that there were a few elements, like the ADHD that would have been better shown in behaviors than just telling it by having the characters discuss characteristics in conversation with each other.
Some of my favorite book tropes were on display Grumpy x sunshine, he trains her (but with a twist), and forced proximity,
I would definitely recommend to anyone that enjoys a contemporary romance, likes a few open door scenes, and likes a little trauma with their happiness.
