hahaha omg this book hits so, so many soft spots in me.
western adjacent - check
endlessly tired mc - yes (i love them i love them so much)
grumpy/sunshine - you betcha but with this like delicious as heck twist?
then there's some adorable children and beautiful moments of trust, and need, and want, and self depreciation and GOODNESS i could just not put this thing down once i started.
Mary Calmes is a new author for me, but as I look through ALL these books I have a feeling I will be reading a looooot more of them. the chemistry is beautiful the introspection is balanced, the pacing is the kind that leaves me unable to do absolutely anything except read this dang book and y'know that's just what i crave.
pick this up for the swoops the spice and the sweetness and stay for the a+ writing skill and character development!!!
