Katherine and her family are traveling from their home to San Francisco. Her parents want her to see why they love the place. When the newly opened Golden Gate Bridge is opened for the public to see and enjoy, they go and take in the wonder of it. But when Katherine went to share the experience with her grandmother when she realized that her prized possession, her locket, had fallen off of her neck.
This delightful book weaves historical fiction into a wonderful story. It depicts several different sight seeing places in San Francisco with wonderful illustrations of those places depicted. The illustrations are wonderful and well colored throughout maintaining attention of the little ones while reading to them and sneaking in some learning with history and the overall learning that love is what makes things special. Definitely recommend this one for any little ones.
