Daggermouth was a rare read and something I had not read before in the genre. It's Dark Dystopian Romance with a hard twist. It took me about 35% into the book to really grasp what was happening and learn the ins and outs of all the characters introduced and the world they lived in. This book is told in third person and lends to some unique points of views on things happening. Each chapter generally focuses on one of the main characters, of which this story had between 4 or 5. Once the 35% mark hit, the book skyrocketed for me and I was heavily invested in the storyline and the characters. I really enjoyed the dynamics between, Shade and Grey and Callum and Lira. The amount of rage and pain in this book is heartbreaking. You really feel the pain that they go through and experience their world with harsh similarities to ours sometimes. When I hit 50% I could not put this book down and was completely invested into what would happen next, even though the heartbreak just kept coming. There were a few plot twists that shook me to my core and one character that broke my heart. I will never forgive H.M. for that one. cries in my kindle
I am anxiously waiting for the next book and very much understand why so many people are loving this book and its characters. This is TRUE enemies to lovers and it's not soft... it's rough, wild and meant to hurt before it gets better. If it does get better for them?. If you love dark dystopian, feminine rage, corrupt govt, and more then you need to pick this book up immediately.
Thank you to H.M. Wolfe, Scarlett Press and NetGalley for an early gifted e-arc of this book. I really enjoyed it and am very grateful. This review is of my own honest opinion.
