This was such a fantastic listen from start to finish! Troy Duran and Meg Sylvan are already a powerhouse narration duo, but they absolutely leveled up with this story.
Think The Hunger Games meets Gladiator… with a delicious layer of Salvatori brother chaos and drama woven in. The story is gritty, intense, and packed with twists (some of which genuinely caught me off guard - which is saying something!).
Arvelle is a force. She’s thrown into the Sundering (a brutal, betrayal-filled gladiator-style arena where only the strongest survive), and she’s not just fighting for glory. She’s fighting for her brothers' lives. Blackmailed into assassinating the emperor, every move she makes is calculated… but nothing goes according to plan.
Between the emperor’s sadistic heir and a blast from her past complicating everything, the tension never lets up. The battle scenes are vivid and gripping, and while there is spice, it never overshadows the story. It enhances it. This one has grit, heart, and fangs. 🖤 Definitely worth the listen.
