Book: Sunflower Season by Danica Nava

June Walker is a character I saw so much of myself in. A woman in tech. Frustrated with the way her colleagues treat her. Feeling more passion for her side projects than her day job. She's anxious, she's awkward, she's most comfortable in her bed watching IG and YT videos. Yeah. I understand June.
I don't know that I could say take this job and shove it and take on rebuilding a farmstead on Oklahoma.
If it came with my childhood sweetheart? Maybe I'd take the chance though.
Noah Abbot is classic book boyfriend material, and I love everything about him. He's a fireman. He's yearned since she left. He likes ducks.
This book was just so beautiful to me. There was so much at the heart of this story that spoke to me - reconnecting with your past, your family, your community; forgiveness even if it means forgiving yourself; learning to communicate; facing your past but living in the present.
Danica Nava packed a lot of big emotional punches into a novel that still manages to be sweet, romantic, and will have you smiling through even the tears.
