I received this book as an ARC in return for my honest review. These are my own thoughts & opinions.
I enjoyed this book. The concept was good, i like the characters, and there is definitely potential for the meanings of an epic story.
That being said, I personally feel like the story could have been fleshed out more. We get a fairly brief summary of this world, before diving straight into the quest; the quest being Gisela leaving to the Trials and so on.
I also feel like the relationships are a little rushed. While I don't mind a shorter book, it didn't feel like there was a lot to it. The MMC goes from being a bully, to randomly following her when she leaves. There's no gradual shift.
Even with those things, I did truly enjoy the story. I will continue on and read the next book, and so on. I look forward to book 2.
