The Light Under the Shadow Wing (*TLUSW) follows the story of our FMC Idallia & the MMC Bale. Bale is the Starborn Dragon King; he is also a dragon-shifter. Idallia is an unknown. Abandoned on the doorstep of a prominent family, she grows up being the outsider.
One thing that I really loved about this book, is that the world building is minimal, but with impact. I don't feel like there are things that were left out. I get a feel for the world and its history with little explanations here and there. The author doesn't spend the whole book building the world you see.
I also truly loved to take on the different races of the supernatural creatures. There's Fae, there's were-shifters, there are vampires, and dragons and humans. We know enough about each of them to get a feel for how they live. Amanda does a great job at separating the differences of races too. There's Bloodwold and Fanghaven, two vastly different vampire races. There's Fae and & Gilden-Fae. We have shifters that are were-tigers, bears, wolves, ect. Its not limited to one creature. She even does a good job of making sure the different regions are fairly inter-mixed.
This book also wraps up very well, and while it will be part of a series, they are interconnected standalones. There's no cliffhanger, and I'm sure the ending can feel rushed to some people, but in my opinion I don't think it was. I think it was all there, and just needed a little push.
This is definitely a book I would come back to and re-read. A lot of standalones don't make that list for me, but i feel like I would be able to uncover new little things or details with every re-read.
