London Snow is the absolute QUEEN of the unhinged and obsessed man, and Elijah delivers on both fronts. I am such a sucker for an angry, broody man who can only be calmed by one woman. I'm sure my therapist would say that says something about me, but I'm cool with it. Besides his stellar good looks, the best thing about Elijah is how completely focused he is on keeping Blair protected and happy. His devotion is unparalleled, and I am obsessed with it.
I really love how strong Blair is. She's just as ready to sacrifice herself to protect Elijah, and she is absolutely no damsel in distress. She also avoids one of my least favorite dark romance pitfalls, where the FMC gets herself into trouble by playing games with or deliberately antagonizing the MMC. Blair is honest, grounded, and knows exactly who she's dealing with. I want more FMCs like her!
The pacing is perfect. In a tight 205 pages, we get a great mix of romance, spice, and mystery. There aren't a ton of red herrings (see: tight page count), but I still wasn't expecting the twists at the end. The Black Crown Society added so much intrigue, and I'll definitely be coming back for the rest of the series.
