If you like Dual POV books, where the main POVs are from the two FMCs, then you will fall in love with this book. Kathryn does a wonderful job at showing different sides of the story & world from the two perspectives. You'll also love this book if you like multiple slow-burn romances.
On one hand, you have Vera; the firey redhead with fight. On the other, you have Aklys; the raven haired girl who believes she's useless.
Vera is strong willed, brave, and fairly impulsive. You learn about the Elemental Eros from her, how the continent was shaped by him.
Aklys is timid, never stands up for herself, and lonely. Left alone in the Black Keep with her father, she feels abandoned and desperate for his approval. You learn about the Elemental Mortas from her.
Every so often, a different POV is thrown in the mix, but it's never for long. Its a brief look at the characters we are following through someone else's eyes. I love this.
Every time the POV changed, I felt like it would be the end, we wouldn't see what happened. Kathryn occasionally left them on cliffhangers, then would switch to the other FMC like we'd been with her the whole time. There were plot twists I didn't see coming, and some I did. I squealed, I laughed, I panicked. I truthfully loved this book, and I cannot wait for the sequel!
