This is a quieter love story, grounded in healing and learning how to trust the right person.
I absolutely love Eden and Foster for each other. Being former foster children is what connects them first — they recognize something familiar in each other before either of them is ready to admit it. Their shared upbringing creates an immediate understanding that outweighs their class difference, with her serving as his housekeeper. It gives their relationship a foundation that actually feels earned.
Foster is the broody, sad boy of my dreams. He never fully recovered from his first love breaking his heart, and he’s shut himself off to the possibility of something more — even though he so obviously craves it. He tells himself he’s content with his found family of teammates (all amazing) and playing Uncle Foster to their kids, but he quietly wants what they have. My heart broke for him.
I was equally emotional over Eden. She’s lived her life with her head down, working just to survive. Her found family is small — her best friend’s family — and she’s learned to keep her big heart guarded because of it. Watching her slowly believe she deserves something steady was everything.
Their shared hardships make it even sweeter when they finally lower their walls. Yes, the chemistry sizzles — but it’s the trust and emotional intimacy that kept me fully invested.
There’s only one book left in the Rampage Football series, and I’m already bracing myself for the emotional damage. I’ll have the tissues ready.
