I have never felt this stressed reading a romance—and I mean that as the highest compliment. Ember and Finn’s second chance is a slow, torturous burn that makes every payoff hit harder. Messy, emotional, and completely addictive.
Anyone who has ever had their heart broken will feel Ember on a molecular level. What she had with Finn didn’t just end—it shattered her, leaving her convinced he had lied to her. Watching her be forced back into his orbit, especially with flashes of who they used to be, was equal parts painful and impossible to look away from.
The Below Deck–style reality show element was such a standout. The interview transcripts woven throughout added another layer of tension, giving insight into the crew’s perspectives and amplifying the drama in the best way. It made everything feel sharper, messier, and just a little more chaotic.
This was my first Kandi Steiner outside of her Kings of the Ice series, and she absolutely proved she can dominate beyond sports romance. The emotional tension? The pacing? The payoff? She knows exactly what she’s doing.
If you love reality TV chaos, second chances that hurt, and tension that refuses to die quietly, add this to your TBR immediately.
