Book: Sundered Sun by Ann Glimmer

Unfortunately, this ARC was a DNF at around 30%.
This story was inspired by Zuko and Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender (ATLA for short). What I didn’t expect was to read ATLA just with different names.
The MMC has the same background and past as Zuko: He spoke out during a military council and challenged the authority of his father, the emperor, as well as his brothers, resulting in a duel he lost and then his exile. He then tries to regain his honour by capturing that “saviour”. His whole point is to please his father. Ring a bell? Oh, and he is a prince of a fire kingdom.
The FMC is a water wielder from the water kingdom whose mother was killed by a soldier from the fire kingdom. This event has caused her deep hatred for Fire Kingdom people, and of course she finds and rescues the “saviour”, goes on his quest with him, becoming friends along the way.
I could understand some references, some inspiration, but at this point? I feel like it is closer to a copy-paste. Characters supposedly being in their mid-twenties but acting like teens?
As such, I was not comfortable reading the book. So this is a DNF for me.
