I was very attracted to this book right away from the Blurb, the gorgeous cover, the treasure hunting plot with Nazis on their trail and the mention of it having Movie Mummy, Indiana Jones and video game Tomb Raider vibes! Unfortunately (though not to bad) it has more just Tomb raider vibes with mummies and an FMC that's a big spoiler brat version of Lara Croft with a hot temper. I did like this book with its adventure and high stakes and egyptology but i didnt love it. The FMC Mel is unlikeable (small redemption at the end but not enough) she's quick to temper and gets angry over minor things, and always does things that she doesn't feel is right and acts surprised when it blows up in her face. Her back and forth should I trust him or not the whole book kinda kills the romance with the MMC Bes and makes it feel like there's not much of a connection there and are kinda massed together just cause. Also, the nazi presents are non existent at times you can go pages without them at all then blam they are suddenly there at the weirdest places. Don't get me wrong the plot points and world building are solid and I liked the book but I didn't love it and the characters definitely needed more growth (Mel 👀) but still all in all a good adventure story.
