✨️ I could read this story a million times (and cry in the same parts every time). I could read it on a cold, rainy day curled up with tea, or on the beach in the blazing heat of summer. It truly doesn’t matter where or when, because this story just feels like home.
💜 I was so honored to be a Beta reader (and then an ARC reader) for this standalone romantasy. Being a small part of this book's journey has been an amazing ride. This book is immersive and beautifully written... a true masterpiece. Alycia, you have truly outdone yourself.
The Characters:
✨ Quinn (The FMC): Quinn is a delightful heroine. She carries herself with a quiet fortitude and bravery that instantly made me root for her. Because she is cursed to only wake every 100 years for a fortnight, she feels she has nothing to lose—and because of that, she isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in.
⚔️ Mav (The MMC): A disgraced knight who Quinn runs into during a tavern brawl (best meet-cute ever!). He falls for her fast—even if he is too stubborn to admit it out loud. The way he looks at her is sweet, tender, and full of yearning.
The Quest:
The premise of Quinn's curse is that she must awaken to aid someone on a quest of their choosing. When she tethers herself to Mav, he is resistant, claiming he doesn't have a quest and doesn't want her help. But when he finally decides? He chooses to spend their fleeting fortnight trying to break her curse.
The Squad (Found Family Perfection):
While the romance is immersive and beautiful, the found family is top-tier:
✨️Branrir: Giving all the grandfatherly vibes (good with maps and swords).
✨️Thistle: The voice of reason holding everyone together.
✨️Vesper: A fallen star turned talking cat. (he is the sidekick you never knew you needed!)
This story has character, depth, and a love story that feels timless. If you want a book that feels like a warm hug with a side of heat and adventure, this is it.
