Book: This Wretched Alchemy by Tina Mars

The magic system was definitely one of my favorite parts of this book! I really enjoyed how it was done, and the story had enough going for it to keep me invested.
My biggest issue was the insta-lust. At first, I couldn’t understand why the MMC was so deeply drawn to the FMC, and their attraction felt a little baseless. I kept questioning what exactly made him so invested in her. By the end, though, the reveal helped put things into perspective, and I appreciated how it tied things together.
I also wasn’t entirely convinced by the whole situation with the mother and sister. Honestly, I found myself thinking they should have just been left alone. And I genuinely can’t remember if they actually died or if that was some sort of hallucination. 😅
The pacing and insta-lust moments nearly brought this down to a 3.5-star read for me, but that ending? It definitely bumped up my rating.
Overall, a solid read with an intriguing magic system and a reveal that made me appreciate the story more in hindsight, even if some parts didn’t quite work for me.
