Narration:
First person FMC POV
TIL (after finishing the book) that there were in fact TWO narrators. I did not know that listening to the book!?
The narrative voice and tone were spot on for the character and atittude of the FMC, even at 1.75x speed.
Story:
People told me they DNFd this book and I don't know why. I really enjoyed it! The characters were complex, the Call was an interesting set of trials, and I was really rooting for Revel (the FMC). Plus, I adore the name Revel! Without spoilers, I'll say the plot twist in the last 10-20% of the book is less a twist and more the beginning of an entirely new, and surprising story. For me at least, it came out of left field and I am here for it. I can't wait to read the next book and see what happens next.
If I had any critiques of this book it's that (1) the magic system/world-building is a bit hard to grasp. I will say I would love to reread the book as text, rather than audio, so I could better develop the world and magic in my mind. (2) I would have loved getting some Warbringer POV.
