Oh my goodness.....This one took me apart and rearranged how my brain works a little bit.
This Reckless Home centers on Blossom, a twenty-something with more money than she knows what to do with and a desire to better the world. She decides to foster children who need a family, a chance at a better life, and sometimes an escape. She makes sure every need is provided for.
On the day her newest foster child, a teenager, enters her life everything changes. His brother and the brother's friends come with him to see where he will be staying, as their goal has always been to raise him themselves. Instead of making them abandon him, she opens her home to them as well. And thus begins our story.
There are so many places this story broke my heart. From dealing with what it is like to be in the foster system and having that held against you as an adult, to how the world sees and treats minorities, especially when there is a financial disparity. The struggles these characters face are not minor, some are make-it-or-break-it level. It was amazing to read a story that dealt with complex issues while not minimizing their impact, not even guaranteeing HEA within the impact.
This is a Why Choose with medium spice, a plot well worth the read, and an ending that is satisfying and not overly pat.
