In the words of the Author..This is a work of decaying beauty. This had me screaming at the pages. Cain and Ophelia have both been completely broken by the people around them, They are both seen as a means to an end, she's quite literally a siphon for his deadly power; he is the prince of death and a void. If therapy was available it would do wonders for both their souls. This is also book 1 in a duology so its got more back story to it, This is a true true sloooooow burn, every moment of will they or wont they was the yearning and need, if you love it then you will love this. One of the BEST parts of this was also the side characters and by side characters I mean the Familiars that are great comic sassy relief. You have a Gargoyle that give me the reminiscent vibes from the Hunchback of Notradam, then you have the sassiest fox you've ever met in Poppy and pair them with Rhana the sleek deadly black panther. They need an adventures book all by themselves.
