In this third installment of Briar Boleyn’s Bloodwing Academy, we are so back with our favourites including but not limited to: Medra Pendragon; Florence Shen; Blake Drakharrow; the mysterious Kage Tanaka; our favourite fluffin, Neville. This narrative feels so different from all the others because it’s not just a continuation of a pretty fleshed out world, but there’s also perspectives from characters who have become integral parts of the main story. I really enjoyed getting Florence’s point-of-view this time around and the added ones of Regan are insightful and interesting as well.
It’s hard not to fall right back in love and tumble back into the world of Bloodwing Academy as the stakes are much higher and everything is much more intense as every character is now affected by what happened at the end of the previous book. Choices have to be made and quite quickly, forcing each character to change and evolve. The pacing matches the intensity and though some may find it jarring, I found it quite enjoyable as it reflects the overall tone and mood.
