During Jack the Ripper’s reign of terror in Victorian London, Caroline Foster has lost everything and goes on a mission to find her long-lost brother everyone believes to be dead. Her search leads her to Whitechapel, where she finds his boardinghouse. She becomes a housemaid for the house in order to snoop around for information regarding her missing brother, Charlie. Throughout the investigation, women are getting murdered by Jack the Ripper. Caroline meets MaryJane Kelly who ends up not only being Charlie’s fiancée but also the last victim of the Ripper. She also connects with Sargent Corbet who is helping with her brother’s disappearance.
I enjoyed this read. Love Victorian London! I felt like the characters could’ve been better developed to make it easier to connect with them. The story definitely takes you through twists and turns, some you may or may not see coming. Felonies painted an accurate portrait of the times and everything wrapped up pretty nicely. I usually don’t like that perfect ending thing but it suits the story here.
