Absolute best read of 2025! Would love to give this Infinity Stars if possible. This will be a piece of work that I will always remember/have readily available. Wow! I can not even begin to formulate thoughts on this devastatingly heartbreaking novel of the atrocities of American history. I love historical fiction, and this is by far one of the absolute best that I have read/listened to.
There were moments while listening that I wanted to throw my phone across the room, or I was a mess, crying. The impact of this book is definitely something.
Tananarive Due, I can not give you enough praise..... this was life in the 50s-60s written in black and white. The scenes and scenarios depicted may be fiction when it comes to specific details, but the subject matter is spot on. It is heart-wrenching to read, even more so to know that is how society behaved towards others.
