The Origins of Atarah may be a quick read, but it does a great job of introducing us to Atarah and giving us a glimpse into the world we’ll eventually explore in Realm of Khaos .
I really liked Atarah from the beginning. She’s strong willed, determined, and willing to trust her instincts even when everyone around her seems to think differently. I especially enjoyed watching her take control of her own future rather than simply accepting the life that had been planned for her.
There’s also just enough mystery and darkness surrounding Aros to make you wonder what is really going on. The political tension between the kingdoms, the humans and fae, and the mentions of the mysterious shadowed beasts made me even more curious about this world and what the author has planned for the series.
And Atarah and Basilius? Their interactions were probably my favorite part. 😂 I loved their banter, especially Atarah’s very straightforward solution to her little marriage problem. Girl knew what she wanted and went for it!
Since this is only a prequel, there are obviously still so many unanswered questions but I think that’s exactly what it’s supposed to do. It gives us a taste of the world, introduces some important history, and leaves us wanting to know more.
A fun, intriguing beginning filled with fae, kingdoms, political intrigue, danger, mystery, and a heroine who refuses to let someone else decide her fate.
I’m ready for Book 1!
