this book got right into it from the jump and it was such a cute, cozy romantasy that just gave me warm fuzzy feelings ☺️ which is surprising cause it covered some dark topics
lila’s journey through this is something that i think a lot of women can relate to, and i know i definitely did. it’s easy to place blame on ourselves for the actions of others, we’re often conditioned to think about everyone else around us before we think of ourselves, and that is exactly what lila did to her own detriment. but going through all that she did helped her finally realize that it is not her burden to carry or to carry alone, and that message is extremely important.
her relationship with artie was so lighthearted and fun, while still carrying emotional depth, and i found myself laughing with them constantly (also the spicy scenes were 10/10 some of my favourite i’ve read 😮‍💨). the way that artie listened to her and controlled his instincts, even when she was being a bit unreasonable, like that right there is a MAN 🙂‍↕️ also the way he took care of her but also her sister? and the love he had for both of them, just in different ways? amazing
i do wish there was a bit more world building and backstory explanation in the beginning, i did find myself to be a bit lost when i started reading but as i continued i got the lay of the land a bit more (the author explained it as DND inspired world building which i have no knowledge of, maybe that would have helped my understanding more)
thank you to Hayling Bookstorm Ltd. and Jolene Tyler for the rerelease copy of this book
