Inana is a storyteller but in a world where art is a sin and creative works are forbidden she has to be careful…especially since there’s a bounty out for her. As she works her art in the city’s less than savory locale, she meets Dominic, a Shadowbane. As a Shadowbane, he is considered a half-Sinless monster hunter and he acquires Inana to help finish his job.
This is wild. I have conflicting feelings about this because I feel like there’s something missing for me; it’s like something is just out of grasp. I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading but I was not prepared for the kind of journey and revelation that I went on. There’s an odd mix of monsters, vampires, religion, and the paranormal that makes the story intriguing. The world building is vast enough without feeling overpowering and all the while, there’s an overarching tone of dread and bittersweetness.
