Logan and Chase's helicopter pilot × medical resident romance resuscitated me.
I was not expecting to see Logan from the Ricochet Ridge series again, so I was pleasantly surprised to find him flying a medevac helicopter in Boston. It broke my heart to see how hung up he still is on Stone, but it was incredibly satisfying when he finally moved on. I really love him for Chase. Logan doesn't place expectations on Chase and even anticipates his needs.
I am obsessed with Chase, the cinnamon roll that he is. He has such a big heart and is a total cuddlebug. I love that he is secure enough in his masculinity to be the (giant) little spoon. It's a nice change from the typical arrogant male medical residents who seem to populate books. I also really enjoyed his bi-awakening and how naturally his feelings for Logan develop out of the physical and emotional intimacy they already share. That said, he isn't perfect. He makes mistakes—particularly with regard to his long-distance girlfriend, Kendra—but is given the space to recognize his missteps and grow from them.
Logan and Chase together are so tender. Their deep understanding of each other creates a safe space for them to open up. I love that the emphasis is placed on their friendship first. It's a slow burn to romance and physical intimacy, but that just means they have a really solid foundation to build on.
I am excited to see where Jillian D. Wray takes The Doctors of Boston Memorial next. I am dying to know more about handsome, super-cold Declan.
