The consequences of Locke's actions

Locke was my favourite in book one (until he wasn't) but it isn't just Bryn he has to put in the work with when all his secrets come to light. What he did was awful and although I understand why he did it, I thought the betrayal of Jak and Morgan was deeper than with Bryn and I'm glad they didn't welcome him back with open arms. Although this is a why choose and the romance is an important plot thread, I appreciated that the relationship between the MMCs was just as integral. They had been operating as a family unit and Locke's actions imploded it and there is definitely the vibe of their relationship being forever changed.
The suspense in the Pits had me hooked but I also really enjoyed the whole plot surrounding the politics of the Light with its twists and turns. One in particular I was kicking myself for not spotting! I love (to hate) Fianna as the big bad too; she’s an excellent villain and I liked a peek into her backstory.
The world building is expanded further with Bryn's Kismet abilities developing and becoming more than she realised. The shared universe element is still strong too with cameos from various characters (although I hope Greyson gets to pop in next time) and there’s a possible tease to a new FMC too. She definitely has me intrigued for the next book!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
