Thank you Harper Audio for the gifted copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.
Oh my goodness, Raven Kennedy and her ENDINGS!! 😱🤯🫢
She got me with good this one…whew.
I loved the world-building in. True dystopian vibes, with plagues that were truly unsettling.
I also really enjoyed the two lead characters: Esti, working so hard to survive and keep her sickly mother alive. The Piper, who was there when the cataclysm happened, and such a mysterious character as he enters the scene.
The banter was so good. And so was the story! Always moving, always something happening, or information discovered; I never felt a dull moment.
And the spice? Also, very good. 🙂↕️
But seriously, that ending?? Give me book 2 already! 😭
Audiobook notes: DUET NARRATION! 🙌 I am always a big fan of Sean Masters’ narration, and I thought he did a great job with this one! Isabelle Turner was a new to me narrator, but I absolutely loved her in this one. Definitely the perfect voice for Esti! There was also the addition of some musical sound effects in certain places. Now, as someone who’s not really into sound effects/graphic audio type productions, I thought they were fine (not distracting or anything), but I also could have done without them? 🤷♀️ (To be fair, I do listen at a fast speed, so maybe they’re cooler at slower speeds?)
