Stop what you are doing and prepare for emotional damage! 😭 Gretchen has truly outdone herself with Splintered Kingdom.
That ending?! SO unexpected. I am deceased. 💀 This continuation of the Shattered Crowns series did not disappoint.
The Romance 🔥
Elyria and Cedric's reunion, months after the trials, was one for the ages. I also loved the continuation of the amazing banter between them!
🔥 The. Chemistry. Is. Palpable. 🔥
You feel every hesitant moment and every time they finally give in. I loved watching them fight their deep connection even though they clearly want to be near each other. The tension and slow burn are so good. As they navigate court politics and uncover hidden truths, they finally realize what we already knew: they are stronger together.
The Characters 🖤
Elyria is such a wonderfully complex FMC. She isn't perfect, and she's a little broken, which makes her character growth and her struggle to accept the bond with Cedric so realistic.
And Cedric? He is so likeable and gives off the perfect "touch her and die" vibes for Elyria. He falls so hard and would do anything to keep her alive.
The Found Family 🫶
The side characters are absolutely integral to this story! I loved getting to see more of Nox (who quickly became a favorite) and Thraigg. Tristen, Ollie, Jocelyn, Young Shep, and Dentarius really made the story come together.
But a personal favorite? Sid, the shadow cat. I loved her so much! 🐈⬛
