Tenebrous was a fantastic Monster x Human romance. I mean, who hasn’t contemplated climbing Bigfoot?
As I sat down to write my review, I kept thinking about how much I liked Benji as a character. Bree Wiley does a fantastic job of writing a flawed protagonist who seemingly doesn’t care what type of mess he makes. Throughout the narrative, we are shown why he is self-destructive and seems to seek out chaos, and his growth is almost as satisfying as the HEA.
Orion was a giant, adorable, squish, and his desire to provide for and protect Benji was so sweet. However, there were moments when he served Benji’s attitude right back to him that had me cracking up.
I somehow missed that this was omegaverse. But whew, the moment the cramps and fever started, I knew we were in for some spice. I thought the fated mates/omegaverse aspects worked perfectly, especially in answering the “how’s that going to fit” question.
I also loved the overarching storyline about Deadfall and the monster. It was a fantastic way to weave the twists of a good campfire story into the Sasquatch legend.
