This series continues to deliver on every front, with magic, tension, found family, and characters you can’t stop thinking about. Luka’s POV absolutely stole the show. His reunion with his brother and father after believing he was the only Sargon left for decades? Gut-wrenching and so, so satisfying.
The dynamic between Luka, Theon, and Tessa is still one of my favorite parts of the series. It’s messy, complicated, and emotionally charged in the best way. And speaking of Tessa… she was a lot in this one. But I do think she’s finally stepping out of her villain era, and I’m really hoping for a redemption arc with actual emotional depth next.
Also: Axel and Kat?? I’m so intrigued by where their story is going. They’ve quietly become one of the most compelling subplots, and I can’t wait to see more from them.
The crossover moments from the Lady of Darkness series were perfect too. It gave just enough to get my brain spinning with theories. With Luka about to take Tessa to another world, I’m fully expecting some multiverse-level chaos in the next installment. (Please let it end in a world war with familiar faces returning, because I need that.)
Still not sure what to make of Lilura, and Eviana feels dangerously close to one-dimensional at the moment. Here’s hoping we get more layers to her next time.
In short: more angst, more magic, more morally gray drama please. I’m all in.
