The story kicks off with Birdie (our FMC) getting hit with an eviction notice, and her day somehow manages to spiral even further downhill. After accidentally grabbing the wrong coffee order, she collides with a grumpy stranger (Knox, our MMC) in the café. Determined to salvage what she can, she heads to her bartending job early, hoping to earn some much‑needed cash while waiting for her lawyer best friend, Sam, to finish work and offer legal advice.
But things take a turn when the grumpy but attractive man from the coffee shop—Knox—ends up in her section. Sam quickly befriends one of his buddies, and before long, their groups merge for a night out. That’s when Birdie learns the truth: Knox is best friends with a prince who’s enjoying his final days of freedom before being pushed into a bachelor‑style competition to choose a wife ahead of his coronation.
With Birdie on the brink of homelessness, Sam and Knox’s friends come up with a wild plan: she’ll head to the country of Wexstone and join the pool of potential brides while she figures out her next steps. But instead of falling for the prince she’s supposed to be wooing, Birdie finds herself drawn to his broody best friend the more time they spend together.
Knox, loyal to a fault, is just as torn. He knows Birdie is there for Ollie, yet he can’t ignore the growing feelings he has for her—no matter how hard he tries to fight them.
This book was like a Hallmark movie and The Bachelor collided. I loved it! It was such a great break for me from all the fantasy and romantasy I have been reading lately! I loved Knox and Birdie! They were so cute and their forbidden romance was so well executed, and the supporting cast was fantastic. I’m so excited for the next book!
