Starfallen

Book: Starfallen by Fern Cole

Starfallen completely pulled me in from the very first page. The tension between Cass and Kieran was absolutely delicious, and every scene they shared had me kicking my feet and telling myself to calm down. (Spoiler alert: I did not calm down!)
One of my favourite things about this book was the world-building. The idea of a world that only appears during celestial events is so unique, and gave it a dream like quality. I loved uncovering its secrets alongside the characters. Add in the political intrigue, shifting alliances, and endless scheming, and I was constantly trying to work out who could actually be trusted.
As it turns out… basically no one.
The people I was convinced were trustworthy had me looking like a fool, while the characters I barely had my eye on were busy proving that appearances can be very, very deceptive. Fern Cole kept me guessing right until the end.
Kieran was such an interesting character. I loved that he chooses not to take on the mantle of king and would rather live amongst his people. But don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s some sunshine and rainbows hero. There’s a darkness within him that’s almost tangible, and honestly, it’s a good job Cass is just as dark.
Packed with political intrigue, fantastic world-building, morally grey characters, and enough twists to keep me on my toes, Starfallen was a book I couldn’t put down. And now I’m left desperately need book two in my hands immediately.
