Book: Green Eyed Devil by Veronica Lancet

This second chance romance with a revenge twist had me hooked; from the mysterious "her" in the prologue to how Enzo had left Allegra, I was invested straight away in finding out how Allegra ended up here. I think Allegra might be my favourite of Veronica Lancet's FMCs so far; she has had such a hard time of it but still stands on her own two feet. I loved her initial banter with Enzo on the boat and she was has some great one liners. The story takes a turn though as not everyone is happy that Enzo has saved Allegra from her arranged marriage. Enzo is definitely up there with Ze and Marlowe from Lancet's other series for me; I knew there was something going on with him but the reveals definitely surprised me. Neither of these characters are great at communicating but given the trauma they have both suffered it's understandable why. My heart was breaking for both of them and there are some really dark and and uncomfortable moments. I was on the edge of my seat towards the end trying to work out how on earth there was ever going to be an HEA with all those twists and turns.
I have read this series completely out of order and although there is crossover, Enzo and & Allegra's book is a pretty self contained story. Its definitely made me want to read the banned book in the series even more after this one though as I need to know Lina's story.
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
