Football long-kicker Elliot goes out with his teammates one night, celebrating his game-winning field goal and looking to hook up. He doesn’t expect to meet NHL goalie Alex and immediately hit it off. They share a hot kiss… except Alex is straight.
They part with a promise of friendship. As they spend time hanging out, texting, and volunteering at charity events, Alex (a highly superstitious goalie) becomes convinced that Elliot is his good-luck charm and that he may not be as straight as he believed. They agree to a casual relationship that ends when their seasons wrap or Alex’s luck runs out.
But casual turns complicated once real feelings start to grow. Will they stick to their deal, or give love a chance?
Icing the Kicker is such a feel-good romantic comedy. Alex brings delightful chaos with his emotional-support fanny pack (Franny!) and anxious mozzarella-stick rambling. His sunshine energy is infectious. Elliot is just as lovable, with his huge heart, commitment to family, and constant charitable work. My heart cracked for him when he learned Alex was straight, but I adored the grace with which he handled it. I was rooting for them to fall in love the entire time.
