I loved this book! I flew through this in a single evening and had such a good time with it!
The book starts off at a sex club, and there is spice within the first 10% of the book. Heads up for if that's not your thing. Despite that, there still manages to be a build up of emotions and connection between our MCs, and the spice in the later parts of the book still feels meaningful and relevant, not just gratuitous.
There was good nuanced conversation around AI usage, which I didn't expect. Our MMC is the CEO of an AI company and that almost turned me off of the book, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. This book felt really modern and very appropriate for where we're at right now.
Consent is really well incorporated throughout the book. There is really great representation for both the Black and queer communities.
You can definitely tell the author is a New Yorker through and through - I spent several years living in Brooklyn, and I loved seeing the city through her eyes. Nothing felt awkward or out of place.
I can't wait to read what Zakiya comes out with next
