Tar City is a gritty, dark immersive story of a city that takes more than it gives. But there is something ancient and evil that brews underneath. The story pulls you in from the very first chapter and does not let go. The amount of times I gasped out loud and sat on the edge of my seat with the plot twists. Jax and Sisk meet as teens and it's an instant connection and attraction. They get pulled into the history and stories they have heard their whole lives about the Tar Pit and the Tar that lives under the city. Legends and stories say that the TAR requires sacrifices to keep it happy. Jax & Sisk begin to look into the disappearance of a former student many years prior. The more they dig into what happens the deeper they find more disturbing things happening in the city. One Tar Pit party and an incident later and all chaos breaks out. Jax & Sisk's lives are on the line and Jax will do whatever it takes to save Sisk, but what he doesn't know is she will do the same. Their lives change after this night and it throws everything into turmoil and chaos.
Reading what happened from this point on made me keep turning pages well into early morning hours because I simply could not put it down!! There is so much banter in this book, not only from the main characters but the multiple side characters. A few of the side characters in this story will become some of your favorites. The book switches from Dual timelines and POV's between Sisk and Jax. I really enjoyed seeing them as young kids through to their adult lives and all of the chaos, heartbreak, tender moments, and THE SPICE in between! The hotness that is Jax St. Clair!! fans self He is red, green and all of the color flags wrapped up into a hot Tar Daddy body. But the mouth on this man had me fanning myself. If you love paranormal dark romance with a lot of grit, heart, spice with a touch of urban feel then this is your next read. It's a unique story that I've never heard before and it was a refreshing read that I didn't want to end.
