I’ve watched the Tampa Bay Ospreys’ found family grow over six books, and now it’s finally time to say goodbye.
Kandi Steiner has created a world of messy hearts, angsty slow burns, and deeply complicated love stories. I can’t imagine a better send-off to the series than Coach Shane finally getting his second-chance romance.
Shane and Ariana broke my heart. Told in dual timelines, we see them falling in love as college students and reconnecting nearly twenty years later. They both enter the relationship carrying deep childhood wounds and quickly form a bond that feels like it should last forever — until Shane makes the decision that shatters both of their hearts. Watching him believe he was doing what was best for Ariana, only to see how unhappy she becomes as an adult, was genuinely painful.
From the outside, Ariana has every reason to be happy. She’s married to a wealthy, charismatic, and handsome man who gives her anything she could ask for. But Shane knows Ariana better than anyone, and he quickly realizes something isn’t right. When the truth starts to surface, he’s willing to risk everything to protect her and make sure she finally has the life she deserves.
This was a difficult story at times, given the heavier subject matter, but the depth of love between Shane and Ariana made it worth the emotional journey.
