This story was just beautiful.
I have been sitting here trying to figure out how to write a spoiler-free review and cope with the emotional damage. We start in the middle of a love story and are led on a journey of heartbreak and grief, to finally reach a hard-won HEA. There were a lot (I mean a lot) of tears.
Everything about the story is so well done. It is told in two parts, and each is its own beautiful journey (also, I cried during both parts). The decision to tell certain chapters from side characters’ perspectives provided such strong world-building and created a perfect bridge between the sections.
Khorli (the monster) was such an incredible character, and it was incredible to see how love and loss transformed him. The love story is intense, beautiful, and so well written.
I have so much more to say, but I promise it’s better to go into this (after checking the trigger warnings) with minimal information and just go on the journey. I can’t wait to see more from this world!

I received an advance copy of this book from the author at no charge. This is my honest, voluntary review.
