Book: Delusions & Desires by Kate Messick

I really liked the concept of Quinn waking up in what she thinks is a delusion and leaning right into it rather than spending the book trying to escape back to her reality. I definitely have more questions than answers about the world building just now though and hope that's expanded in the later books as I did find it a little confusing to start. I think that's largely down to jumping straight in with the Architect's POV of the trail at the beginning and I needed a bit more context; the assumption of the other characters is that Quinn just knows these things as she is from their world but as she doesn't think this is her reality she just rolls with most of it. I would have loved just a bit more exposition as there is a lot going on with the magic system, the politics and the position of women in this society. It kept me engaged though and the slow burn worked really well; Cayden and Rowan are my favourite characters at the moment but they both seem to be hiding something from Quinn which I'm looking forward to being explored.
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
