Sometimes you just need someone with Daddy/Sir vibes to walk into your life and help you keep it all together.
Caspian was such a relatable character, and I had so much sympathy for him. After surviving a boating accident, Caspian is lost. He’s grieving, trying to run his bakery and the family farm, and fending off vultures who want him to sell his prime Scottish coastal land. We see how much his best friend, Kiernan, and the whole village care for him, but it’s not enough.
I loved that Sterling was basically an aquatic Captain Planet, guarding the UK coastlines. He was this hot mix of sea captain and merman, wrapped up in a monstrous package. I liked that he was familiar with humans and was used to wearing his human form, though we do get some occasional monster idiosyncrasies. Plus, his tenderness and the caretaking were swoon-worthy .
I appreciated how easily they fell into their relationship, with both of them immediately like, “mate.” The sweet romance perfectly balanced the looming outside threats.
Another fantastic entry in the Mayhem Manuscripts Season Two: Cryptids collaboration!
