Happy Ending by Chloe Liese
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Happy Ending is Chloe Liese at her absolute best. I fell so hard for Thea and Alex’s best friends-to-lovers romance—this one had me laughing, crying, and fully swooning. All the feelings were felt.
Told in dual timelines, we watch Thea and Alex build their friendship over two years after their exes start dating. Thea is still tied to her ex-husband through shared custody of their dog, while Alex co-parents his young daughter with his ex-wife. Through quiet, everyday moments, their bond deepens into something more—something that’s always been there, just waiting for them to take the leap.
My heart really went out to Thea. Being left after a thirteen-year marriage with no real attempt to fix things would shake anyone. I loved that her healing journey is taken seriously—she has a healthy relationship with her therapist and is actively working to rebuild her confidence before stepping into something new. Watching her learn to want more for herself, both personally and professionally, was incredibly powerful.
And Alex? I was gone for him immediately. He’s honest, hardworking, an incredible dad, and a super hot chef—what more could you want? He supports Thea in every way, whether that’s hyping her up or being a steady shoulder when she needs it most. He’s clearly in love with her, but he’s willing to put those feelings aside to be the friend she needs, especially after Lauren moves away. That level of care? Devastating (in the best way).
What makes their relationship so special is how grounded it feels. They build a foundation of trust, respect, and genuine friendship—something that truly feels like it will last. I was absolutely feral waiting for things between them to turn romantic, because they are so clearly meant to be.
Chloe Liese is an auto-read author for me, and Happy Ending proves exactly why.
